Divide overgrown perennials, ones in large clumps, or ones that seem to be less productive every year. Dig up the clumps and divide into sections. Discard the centers and save the outer sections—making sure each piece has a good clump of roots and some emerging green growth. Replant, evenly spaced, and water well.
